What inspired you to start your business?
Several things, actually. My eldest son’s health, my parents’ cancer journeys and my own health challenges all lead me to explore natural option for our wellness. Essential oils came into my life at exactly the right time and after using them for 18 months, I found a passion emerging to help and educate others about them. I could never have predicted how much my life would change as a result of getting those little, amazing smelling bottles in my hands.
Tell us about your business?
I empower women to take control of their physical and emotional health using essential oils. I run workshops and teach about everything from hormonal help, to creating to a low chemical home, to stress and sleep support, to looking after their kids’ health. I love walking alongside people and helping them on their journey to better health.
What do you love about running your business?
Hands down, the people. Relationship is my strength and I love getting to know people, meeting them where they’re at, and helping them. I also love it when people have “aha” moments and find an oil that supports them on their wellness journey. I also love the community aspect of this business, and the amazing women I partner with.
What have been some of your biggest challenges?
I’m an introvert so sometimes I find networking a little challenging. I’ve learned to do in my own way and to celebrate my unique strengths. I also had no business background before starting this business so I’ve had a lot to learn and have had to step out of my comfort zone too many times to count.

Who inspires you, and why?
So many different women for so many different reasons. They’re all around me. I’m not really a celebrity kind of person. I love ordinary women who are showing courage, facing their fears, and growing. That’s inspiring.
What growth have you experienced being in Venus?
I have grown in confidence and business knowledge since starting Venus several years ago. I have gleaned so much from all the amazing women in my Mt Eden group as well as from the wider network. Taking on the facilitator role was another way to add to my skills, learn and grow, and serve my Venus group.
Women are redefining success and growing businesses on their terms: What does success look like to you?
It looks like a women who is thriving, and purposeful about her life. For me, that’s having a good balance between work and home life. Working my schedule around my kids has always been a priority for me so having a business that allows me to do that is gold. I couldn’t ask for more!
What’s your favourite pastime when you are not working?
Singing. I love music and lead my church band every other weekend. I also love getting out and about with my boys and husband, reading, eating good food and drinking coffee. Coffee definitely needed a mention somewhere in here!
