What inspired you to start your business?
I loved the experience I had with a financial adviser so I went to work with them and focussed on providing a service to clients that I had been receiving personally. After 5 years with them and 2 years working remotely from home and a timely carpark conversation, I realised I was ready to do this by myself.
Tell us about your business?
You may have heard that I’m the smarter mortgage lady and why is that? Owning a home and having a mortgage should be smarter not harder and the value I add to the process is to save people time and money.
I love getting people into their own place to call home and I believe everyone should be able to pay off their mortgage as fast as possible while maintaining a comfortable lifestyle.
A smarter mortgage tailored by me has flexibility of early repayment and certainty of cost.
Within a few minutes I can potentially tell people whether they can potential do what they want to do.
What do you love about running your business?
I get to share all of my personal knowledge and experience of home ownership, investment and real estate with people buying their first home, next home, first investment and refinancing from one lender to another.
I absolutely love showing people how to save on interest costs and keep that money in their back pocket or how to utilise the savings to pay off their mortgage faster.
What have been some of your biggest challenges?
Years ago I was a single parent who bought my first home with my sister whilst self employed, utilising some assistance from my parents towards the deposit and that story helps me attract people in a similar situation as I can relate to theirs.
Leaving a certain income to start up a business more than once and having to survive on minimal income, but knowing that it was the best decision for me at that time and place and not looking back.
Do you have a favourite quote?
Everyone has choices, it’s what you do with them that counts
Who inspires you, and why?
People who don’t allow challenges to prevent them from doing what they want, they just find a way to overcome the challenge and keep pushing on towards their goals and dreams.

Having the support of women in business for themselves is valuable as I can rely on them to give me an honest opinion and ideas.
I love the sharing of knowledge and experience on how to deal with challenging situations.
It’s a great place to practice presentations and introductions but also share wins with likeminded people.
Women are redefining success and growing businesses on their terms: What does success look like to you?

What’s your favourite pastime when you are not working?
